Welcome to the Voice Studio
of Dr. Juanita Ulloa

Dr. Juanita Ulloa warmly welcomes you to her Private Voice Studio. ¡Bienvenidos!

Juanita’s solo singers have been called into American Idol, the White House, the US Army, Mexican folkloric events, and have been solo finalists and winners at the National Association of Teachers of Singing Festivals (NATS), as well as the Mariachi Extravaganza Solo Voice Competition. We are currently based in both Ajijic, Jalisco in Mexico as well as Northern California. Our active presence continues to grow online and has spread our reach nationally and internationally. Our studio takes on inspired and dedicated aspiring singers of many styles that are focused. Our mission is to enrich and transform people’s voices by accessing healthy breathing, awareness of support as the air itself in our lungs, clear diction with awareness of vowels, and beautiful singing, while empowering the inner spirit and mind-body connection. These pedagogical concepts are applied to each singer’s desired field of vocal repertoire after a foundation is established. While our specialty is Latin American and mariachi styles, we have singers performing musical theatre, country, rock, religious and other kinds of song as well. We also train actors, speakers, interpreters, lawyers and judges.

Dr. Ulloa has over 30 years of experience training primarily singers, but also professors, linguists, judges, lawyers, instrumental musicians, and voice-over actors at many levels. Many are public figures, national competition winners and finalists; others are teachers and trial lawyers honing their vocal tone, breathing, and presentation skills. Some focus on diction and projection, others on national competition stature. She also welcomes the freshness of beginning students. Her current students at range from 15 to 82 years old.

Juanita Ulloa holds a D.A. in Vocal Performance & Pedagogy with secondary area in Hispanic Studies. She trains singers in many global vocal styles along with classical singing. Dr. Ulloa is a pioneer of the Operachi vocal style for women and has a solo career as an international performer in the USA and many Hispanic countries, with an opera background. She has recorded 7 prize winning CDs and 5 songbooks championing mariachi, boleros, women and bilingual songs for children. She was raised primarily in Mexico City but also in Madrid, Spain and Panama and did her university and beyond degrees in the USA. Her music degrees are from Yale University, UC Berkeley, and the University of No. Colorado.

Format- She teaches 1 hour or 30-minute lessons. For budget and more details please email juanitavoicetrainer@gmail.com

Brava, brava, bravísima usted! Fue una experiencia inolvidable para mi. Que dicha haberla conocido. Muchas gracias por compartir su voz y su sabiduría. Comprendí lo que me dijo en el taller y estoy totalmente de acuerdo. (Brava. It was an unforgettable experience for me. How amazing to meet you. Thank you so much for sharing your voice and your knowledge, I understood what you shared in the workshop and am totally in agreement)
Thank you so much for your helpful words and your inspiring masterclass. I’m so grateful to have gotten this opportunity to work with you. I hope to work more with you in the future! I’ll be sure to send you an invitation to my recital in the spring!
I really loved the Mariachi Master Class and Workshop, especially when Dr. Ulloa would teach the singers how to go from breath to vowel using the air so their sound would be richer. Amazing!
Working with Dr. Ulloa was great! She really is an expert in the subject of Mariachi/Ranchero music and vocal instruction. I had never sung this style of music before, nor had I ever sung in Spanish. Dr. Ulloa was warm, and I felt very comfortable working with her despite being outside of my comfort zone. I learned a lot about this genre of music and grew a deeper understanding and appreciation.
It was a beautiful experience I would love to have again. I was able to sing sharing a tradition I inherited amongst peers who also poured their soul and life into their singing.
