Our studios are based in Ajijic, Jalisco in Mexico and Northern California, United States, but we have a very active online presence that transcends both locations. This has spread our reach far and wide, nationally and internationally. Our studio includes inspired and dedicated singers and professionals. Those looking for a quick fix will not be happy in this voice studio.

Our mission is to enrich and transform people’s voices by accessing healthy breathing, awareness of support as the air itself in our lungs, clear diction with awareness of vowels, and beautiful singing while empowering the inner spirit and mind-body connection. This training is based on breathwork that builds long careers to perform between ages 70 and 80. These pedagogical concepts are applied to each singer’s desired field of vocal repertoire after a technical breathing foundation is established. While our specialty is Latin American and mariachi styles, we have singers performing other kinds of songs as well. Our studio also trains actors, speakers, voice-over actors, interpreters, lawyers, and judges. We especially enjoy guiding women with mariachi vocal development, as it is largely unaddressed. My 2024 book, The Mariachi Voice, addresses some of these technical principles.

With over 30 years of private voice teaching experience, Dr. Juanita Ulloa holds a D.A. in vocal performance and pedagogy with a secondary specialty in Hispanic studies. The songstress was raised primarily in Mexico City but also in Madrid, Spain, and Panama. She completed her music degrees in the United States at Yale University, UC Berkeley, and the University of Northern Colorado. Juanita’s primary vocal study has been with Jane Randolph of the San Francisco Conservatory. She also studied with others, including zarzuela specialist Ana María de Iriarte, in Madrid, Spain. She trains singers in many global commercial vocal styles along with classical singing.

Her own Operachi vocal style and international performances establish her as a pioneer for female singers. She has recorded seven prize-winning CDs and five songbooks championing mariachi, boleros, women, and bilingual songs for children.

“Working with Dr. Ulloa was great! She really is an expert in the subject of Mariachi/Ranchero music and vocal instruction. I had never sung this style of music before, nor had I ever sung in Spanish. Dr. Ulloa was warm, and I felt very comfortable working with her despite being outside of my comfort zone. I learned a lot about this genre of music and grew a deeper understanding and appreciation.”
“I really loved the Mariachi Master Class and Workshop, especially when Dr. Ulloa would teach the singers how to go from breath to vowel using the air so their sound would be richer. Amazing!”
